Roots J Series Blowers Are Best With Isomag Bearing Seals
The Roots RAS-J series blowers are heavy duty units for continuous service featuring a proprietary design that reduces noise, pulsation, and horsepower levels over conventional blowers. The impeller/shaft assemblies are supported at each end by double row spherical roller bearings and are lubricated by a positive pressure lubrication system completely mounted and piped on the blower unit. Bearing life is extended by up to 50% through the use of the pressurized lubrication system, however the lip seals used would commonly wear out in a short time, causing an egress of the lubrication.
The pressurized lubrication system required a positive seal to be using in the bearing housing. The customer found Isomag bearing isolators, which satisfied the positive seal requirement, but provided them with a seal that possessed a long life cycle. The seal has been running since 2015 and is still going today, with no leaks, while protecting the spherical bearings.
