Llyondell Basill Goes With Isomag Magnetic Bearing Seals On Roots 1216 Blowers

The Roots 1216 blower is a heavy duty unit made for continuous service featuring a proprietary design that reduces noise, pulsation, and horsepower levels over conventional blowers. The impeller/shaft assemblies are supported at each end by double row spherical roller bearings and are lubricated by a positive pressure lubrication system completely mounted and piped on the blower unit.. Bearing life is limited due to the use of lip seals, which commonly wear out in a period, causing an egress of the lubrication.

The customer, Llyondell Basill in Pasadena, Texas, required a positive seal that would prevent an oil leak. The customer found Isomag bearing isolators, which satisfied not only the positive seal requirement, but also provided them with a seal that possessed a much longer life cycle. The seal was installed this year, in 2018, and came with a guaranteed minimum of 5 MTBR for the bearings.
