FITT Resources in New South Wales, Australia found Isomag magnetic face bearing isolators to be the perfect solution for their rebuild on a SEW Eurodrive SA Series gearbox motor. The SA model 37 gearmotor was experiencing problems of egress of the ISO-220 lubrication from the bearing housing, eventually causing the gearbox to fail. Their mining customer needed longer run times on these gearboxes. The culprit of this SEW Eurodrive SA Series gearbox are the lip seals that are installed. Oil seals wear out in about 6-8 months on continuous use. Then the loss of lubrication from the bearing housing starts. On top of that, the lip seal wears a grove into the shaft, making it necessary to either refurbish the shaft or get a new one when it's time to repair.
