The Ekato FGD side-entry mixer is the world’s most sold side-entry agitator for absorber towers in flue gas desulfurization plants. The reliable and rugged FGD agitator has provided long, trouble free service in harsh, demanding applications. Our customer, a refinery in Port Arthur, was in need of a better solution for this mixer. The Ekato FGD is positioned horizontally, and needed positive sealing to prevent the loss of lubrication. Before Isomag bearing isolators were introduced, the refinery was using lip seals. However the lip seals only help up for a short amount of time, and wore a groove in the shaft. The refinery needed a better and more long term solution.

Isomag bearing isolators are unique in that they are both a positive seal but also do not damage the shafts on the host equipment. The refinery was introduced to Isomag bearing isolators through a channel partner in 2008, and are still running today.
