Isomag Bearing Isolator Helps Bad Actor Pump at International Paper

International Paper's (formerly Weyerhauser) New Bern Mill in North Carolina had a consistently leaking Sulzer LST 61-6 . This pump was a critical white liquor high pressure pump, which from day one always leaked from the standard labyrinths. Since this pump was critical to their process, they could never pull this one or the sister pump. The pump often had to be refilled with near by oil cans.

This pump ran at 3600 RPM and a little toasty. In June of 2015, the maintenance manager decided to make the switch to Isomag bearing isolators, after his discovery the technology. Since then, it's been leak free and the bearing housing has been running much cooler as a result with this new bearing protector.
