BASF Uses Isomag Bearing Seals On Lufkin Gearbox

Share

BASF found Isomag magnetic bearing seals to be the perfect solution for their Lufkin S64CH gearbox. This double reduction parallel shaft speed reducer was used as an elevator and experienced problems of ingress of dust and moisture into the bearing housing, eventually causing the gearbox to fail. The one weakness of this Lufkin gearbox is the lip seals that are installed. Oil seals wear out in about 6-8 months on continuous use. Then the contamination of the bearing house starts. On top of that, the lip seal wears a grove into the shaft, making it necessary to either refurbish the shaft or get a new one when it's time to repair.

When BASF specified Isomag bearing seals for their gearbox in 2013, they were very happy with their decision. The Lufkin gearbox has been running leak free and contamination free since then.

Isomag bearing isolators are a positive seal that wont damage the shafts of your gearbox, and work in horizontal or vertical up or down positions for the right angle gearboxes. Isomag bearing isolators also work perfectly in grease lubrication environments. So say goodbye the all the diapers left sitting around your gearbox, and say hello to meeting your planned life cycle for your gearbox with Isomag magnetic bearing isolators.
